Gallery Weekend Berlin:
Anna Wenning - Elvira Martos

 

During the Gallery Weekend Berlin at Gallery UNO we exhibit paintings by the artist Anna Wenning (Berlin) and by Elvira Martos (Spain) who will show artworks from the project FUNAMBULISMO which the artist started this year in Delhi during an artist residency at ONKAF gallery.


The installation by Nikkole Huss, Chicago‚ Beneath the Surface‘ will still be on display.

Special Opening Times during Gallery Weekend:
Friday, April 28th: 6 pm -  9 pm
Saturday, April 29th: 11 am - 7 pm
Sunday, April 30th: 11 am - 7pm

The artists will be present during the Gallery Weekend.

The exhibition will be on display until May 2023 and can be visited by appointment.

ELVIRA MARTOS - Funambulismo

About the paintings
These artworks are the continuation of the project Funambulismo that Elvira Martos started this year in Delhi during an art residency at ONKAF gallery. 

Each painting is an instant of tightrope walking, of an impossible balance between realities where the material and tangible and the transcendental are unfolding and coexisting simultaneously. The artworks represent meeting points where, thanks to chanting, the spiritual path, sacred traditions, spiritual masters, prayers, or intimate whispers to the divine, open up gaps and communicate both realities in the eternal quest towards the Absolute.”

Elvira Martos (born 1989, Seville)  
Graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Seville, specializing in painting, she continued her pictorial studies at the Accademia di Pietro Vanucci in Perugia, Italy. Her artistic career develops in Rome, Italy, and in Sydney, Australia. Throughout her career, she has worked as an assistant and artistic advisor, and as a painter and muralist for the advertising agency Apparition Media. She has participated in exhibitions and creative projects in Seville, Rome, Perugia, Granada, Benevento, Sydney, Venice, Melbourne, Barcelona, Cuba, etc.  

Elvira currently lives and works in Seville, Spain, and has just closed her seventh solo exhibition „Rescoldos“ in Cienfuegos, Cuba. There, she has been part of the artistic residency program of the Cuban national fine arts award winner Nelson Domínguez and thanks to the support of the Spanish Embassy in Cuba.

In the process of painting, I deal with fantasy pictures as well as reality and create new worlds - between the yearning for an idyll and the fear of destruction. I prefer to draw and paint scenes from memory at night and without artificial light. It is not by coincidence that forms of the familiar appear, figurative forms, particularly as they appear as if they were an afterimage on the lens with closed eyes.
