Polly Yates – Equilaterals

At the core of Polly Yates' practice is search for a language to articulate desire. In this series she works with screenprinted imagery which she slices into fragments, layers and weaves into compositions which teeter between abstraction and recognition. Drawn to processes of doing, undoing and redoing she works within a set framework of colors, techniques and tools to create complex and delicate pieces which reference the baroque, excessive ornamentation and the folding in of the outside. All works were created on an A.I.R program at Spudnik Press, Chicago.

POLLY YATES is originally from England. Since completing her MFA in 2011 from Central Saint Martins in London, UK, she has been working as a studio artist in Chicago.
