‚In this new body of work I incorporate the image of cracks from previous paintings by rubbing the texture surface onto Hanji paper (a typical Korean paper). My cracked painted surfaces , influenced by Western culture, have been reinterpreted through the lens of Oriental painting identity, reintroducing the process of Oriental materials. Materials reveal not only a means of expression but also my artistic and cultural identity.‘
Uisuk Byeon
