Christian Rieben – Meat for the Siren

Somewhere between abstraction and representation, somewhere between darkness and the light, somewhere between smart and dumb, Christian Rieben’s paintings offer a glimpse into a world between realities. What is this world? Is it a world of the pre-Modern, with its grisaille and mythologies? Or is it the world of today, with its graphic sensibility and self-absorption? Perhaps it is a psychic space outside of time’s conventions.

This is Christian’s third show for Gallery UNO; he exhibits his work in both the United States and Europe.
