artwork presentation and poetry readings
On Wednesday, April 15 at 6:00 PM, the artist Elizabeth Frolet will present her work “Lettre à une feuille de papier / Letter to a Sheet of Paper,” a tribute to the now almost obsolete practice of communicating by writing (and sending) letters on paper. Today, a written and illustrated letter can become a work of art, carrying the same value as a painting or a drawing. It can also become a line, with a simple, poetic, and affectionate meaning; a memory to be carefully preserved, to be folded, put away, and reopened like a delicate and precious handkerchief. Frolet will also exhibit a selection of artist’s books, showcasing the countless possibilities of paper and of books that are handmade, written, and illustrated. The intimate space of the library, home to Artists Studio Roma, is the ideal setting to present these works, which will come into direct contact with the books that fill its walls
