My work at UNO gallery is an experiment installation on paper. As I began the process of my work, I gravitated to be open to receive inspiration and influence that would encompass my recent move to Berlin. During this time, I nurtured this work for a month in the gallery. The materials I chose were an immediate and somewhat child-like craft that could tie into the idea of the work being intuitive and whimsical. Using scissors and cutting papers similar to what I did as a child, set me free to directly respond to my current vision. Drawing with colored pencils and markers, as a direct source but unknown action, that resulted in a landscape. As I used my old knowledge, I invited in a new perspective to my work.
Chinatsu Ikeda
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In her work Chinatsu Ikeda was inspired by artists like Matisse, Akira Kuroswa (film), Francis Bacon, Caravaggio, Kuniyoshi Utagawa (Prints) etc.
Her recent Installation 'Rhythmic Stir', a large scale paperwork for Gallery UNO, shows a strong influence by Matisse, the French artist who after a long illness invented the new media of cut outs, a media that next to drawing became dominant in the work of the Japanise artist.
