Franco Durelli sieht in der Kunst nicht nur ein Ausdruckmittel von Form und Farbe zu
immer neuen Kompositionen, sondern auch ein starkes Mittel, um Menschen mit sozialen und psychologischen Problemen
zur Kommunikationfähigkeit und bei der Integration in das Gesellschaftssystem zu helfen.
Diese Erfahrung wird in seiner Arbeit reflektiert, welche eine tiefe künstlerische Reife zeigt und ständig auf der Suche
nach neuen starken Ausdrucksmitteln und Formen ist.
Die grosse Varietät seiner Arbeiten zeigt einen Weg durch die Kunstgeschichte, auf dem der Künstler mit den Meistern
der zeitgenössischen italienischen Kunst im Dialog steht, aber auch mit den Künstlern des Quattrocento, wie seine
frühen grafischen Werke zeigen, so wie mit Henry Moore in seinen figurativen Arbeiten oder de Koonig, Pollock und CY
Twombly, wie in seinen letzten abstrakten Werken.

Geboren in Rosora (Italien)
Die Familie zieht nach Rom, wo er am Liceo Artistico in Via Ripetta studiert.
1966 Premio Carlo Levi und Borsa di Studio dell’Accademia delle Belle Arti, Rom
1976 Abschluss des Architekturstudiums an der Universität in Rom
Zeitgleich frequentiert er die zeitgenössische Kunstszene in Rom, wo er mit etablierten Künstlern und Kunstkritikern wie Carlo Levi und Carlo Cattaneo intensiven Kontakt hat, die seine Arbeiten inspirieren.
1978 Aufnahme des Kunstunterrichts
1985 Zusammenartbeit mit dem Kulturverband ‘Franco Basaglia 84’, Rom, wo er einen Kunst-Workshop leitet, eine
Initiative, die er im Kunstzentrum ‘Centro Diurno Sperimentale’ , La Voce della Luna, Rom, fortsetzt.

In Franco Durellis opinion, art is not only language and means of color and forms and figurative and abstract expression, but also a strong power of communication and integration for people with social or psychological problems. This experience strongly reflects on the development of his art which shows a deep artistic
maturity and a constant research for new forms of expression.
In the great variety of his works the artist proceeds a pass through art history and is in dialogue with contemporary Italian Masters as well as with artists of the Quattrocento, as shown in some of his early graphical works and with artists like Henry Moore in his figurative works or de Koonig, Pollock and CY Twombly, as well as in his most recent abstract works.
